Sandwich Filler Ideas: Crunchy Tuna, Pepper & Egg
|For a quick sandwich filling idea, whether you’re making a sandwich, or filling a bread roll, pitta, or even using wraps, a tin of tuna can be a great way to start.
I actually had to use up some yellow pepper, so thought I’d make a crunchy tuna sandwich filler with it. As I also had eggs, why not toss in a boiled egg too?
Sandwich Filler Ingredients
- 1 small tin of tuna
- 1/4 – 1/2 a yellow/red/orange pepper, whatever you’ve got
- 1 hard boiled egg
- 2-3 tablespoons (a big squirt) of salad cream, or mayo if you use that
Method:
- Open the can of tuna and drain the liquid away.
- Slice or chop the pepper, the way you like it.
- Chop/slice/cut the egg up into chunks or smaller pieces
- Add a large squirt of salad cream or mayo (2-3 tablespoons)
- Combine all that lot – then use the sandwich filler to make a crunchy tuna, pepper and egg sandwich, fill a roll, fill a pitta bread or use in a wrap!
You can make the mix as chunky or as smooth as you like – I prefer this sandwich filler to be chunky, as I like the texture and the crunch of the peppers is more noticeable.
Great for a packed lunch, or just to make/wrap in foil and keep in the fridge for when you’re peckish later in the day.
Enjoy!
