Back to old habits with this 4 way folding tortilla wrap to serve up my first burger of the summer season! It’s a simple and easy way to eat a burger without it being messy. This one’s a quarter pounder lamb burger tortilla wrap, using Iceland’s Mint & Lamb quarter pounder burgers.
Notice: This is a microwave burger recipe as I’ve used my microwave oven to cook a frozen quarter pounder burger. It’s up to you how you cook your burger… just take the idea and run with it.
Tortilla Wrap Ingredients:
- 1 Lamb Mint Burger, frozen
- 1 tortilla wrap
- ~50g cheese
- A little sliced onion
- Ketchup of your choice
Folding Wrap Method
- Cook the burger – I microwave burgers, taking just 3-4 minutes maximum.
- Cut from the middle of the tortilla to the edge.
- Place a squirt of ketchup on the first quarter, or mint sauce, or whatever you like!
- Place sliced onion on the second quarter. Raw or cooked a little, your choice. Today I added the onion in with the burger while it was cooking, just to soften it a bit.
- Place your favourite cheese in the third quarter
- Place your cooked burger in the fourth quarter
- Starting at the first quarter, fold the ketchup quarter over the onions.
- Fold the ketchup/onions quarter over onto the cheese.
- Fold the ketchup/onions/cheese quarter over the burger.
- EAT: You can just eat it like this, else….
Melt the Cheese!
This is your choice – melt the cheese or not? If you want to melt the cheese, then:
- Place the whole wrap, with all the fillings, in the microwave and microwave on full power for 1-2 minutes until the cheese has melted.
And that’s it. Ready to be eaten. You might think my filling “looks a bit tight”, but it’s up to you how much you put in! I’m tight 🙂
Optional: Shave/slice/cut the burger once it’s cooked and spread it out more evenly…. not something I’d do every time, but every now and again I have been known to do this.
A Cheap Work Lunch Idea
If you’re lucky enough to have a microwave oven at work, you can make up your folded tortilla quarterpounder burger and then just place it in a plastic takeaway box and take it to work. Pop it in the fridge (or a cool spot under your desk), then at lunchtime just finish it off by microwaving your tortilla wrap, in the microwave box.
No mess to clear up, you can pop the lid back on the empty takeaway box when you’ve finished and take it home to wash… because shared kitchens can be awkward to use.
Cost of Tortilla Quarter Pounder Burger Wrap
Breaking down the cost of this quarterpounder burger wrap, it works out at roughly:
Burger, ~60p. Tortilla Wrap, ~10p. Cheese, 25p. Onion, <1p.
A total of <£1 for a filling, hot, lunch, snack, or meal. You can reduce costs further by using less cheese, or seeking out cheaper burger options and grabbing a bargain when you spot them!
