Hot and crispy toasted fish finger sandwiches are a quick lunch; using a toaster bag means no crumbs or mess inside the toaster!
How many Fish Fingers are in a Toastie?
My preference is four – just because they fit the bread neatly. I often end up using “the last three” in a pack though, resisting opening a fresh box. How many fish fingers are in a toastie is a personal preference though – you choose!
Ingredients:
- 2 slices of bread per toastie
- 4 frozen fish fingers per toastie
Fish Finger Toastie Method:
- Defrost the fish fingers in the microwave. 1 minute on high, turned them over, then a further 30 seconds or so.
- Lightly toast the bread – deciding which sides of each slice were “lightest”.
- Place all four defrosted fish fingers onto the darkest slice of toast and top it with the second slice, again so the darkest sides are against the fish fingers.
- Place the fish finger toastie inside the toaster bag – you might like to give it a light squash down with your hand so it fits in the toaster slot.
- Place the toaster bag inside the toaster and toast on a low setting until the outside of the toast is the colour you like it!
I stood and watched as the smoke poured out of the toaster, thinking “look at that moisture burning off”, then realised 🙂 It was the bread starting to get a little too brown!
Tip: Don’t daydream while cooking toasties in a toaster bag! Or any toast really. It cooked quicker than I expected, I was waiting for the toaster to pop up.
Toastie Q&A:
Q: Did you use any butter, margarine or mayo on the outside of the toast? A: No, that’s optional and I didn’t bother + it’d get mucky and I’d end up covered in it as I’m a bit clumsy.
Q: Does the toast get brown inside the bag? A: Yes, the bread does toast and go brown inside the toaster bag.
