Can You Reheat Naan Bread in a Toaster?
|Have you ever wondered if you can reheat naan bread in a toaster? Well, I do it all the time, so the answer is “yes”.
Naan bread comes in many sizes – and toasters do too. If you’re cooking a curry for one then you don’t want to put the oven on just to reheat a naan bread (or half a naan bread), likewise, putting the oven grill on might be over the top for some ovens.
The toaster can be used to reheat your naan bread. Shortly I hope to be buying a mini oven – so I will be able to toast a whole naan bread in one go, but, even with a cheap £5 toaster you can use it to reheat a naan bread.
Update: I bought the Lidl Mini Oven & Grill as it was for sale, I nearly missed spotting that!
Just this week I was making a chicken curry and rice and I’d already bought a pack of two naan breads, I used one to make a White Pizza, which is a pizza without tomato sauce. That left one naan in the packet, which I could either freeze, or use. I do prefer to use what I’ve opened. You can’t continually throw everything in the freezer, you run out of space!
So, this time, I just wanted to add a piece of the remaining naan bread as a side dish. I used the toaster.
Depending on the size of the naan breads and the size of the toaster slots, you might have to work out where to slice the naan bread – but if you slice it into pieces you can toast the individual parts.
There is no specific time it takes. To toast a naan can take 2-3 minutes in a toaster and you will probably need to turn it round, or turn it over at some point, so I do like to stand by the toaster and watch what it’s doing so I get it just right.
But it’s as easy as that!
- Cut the naan bread into pieces that will fit into your toaster slots, as neatly as possible as you don’t want random bits flapping around close to the elements.
- Put the slices into the toaster and check after 1-2 minutes or so to see how it’s doing.
- Turn the naan bread over/round in the toaster as you go, to make sure it’s all toasted just how you like it.
- Serve!
This is a great way to make a quick nibble or snack too: use the toaster to heat up half a naan bread and fill a little pot with dip or mango chutney!
